How to Post
Thank you for joining SermonExchange.net. We pray that through the sermons you post that your ministry will extend way beyond the walls of your church. And we pray that you would find some valuable resources here in your own preaching. To guide you in adding your sermons, we have provided this step-by-step tutorial.
1. Visit the website and look for “login” at the bottom of the page; it should appear in blue text and click.
2. Enter your user name and password; case sensitive. You will be directed to another page.
3. To change your profile, click on “profile”. There you will be able to edit all of your information including changing your password, adding a small photo (please, no larger than 125 x125 pixels), website information and a short bio.
4. To make a post, look for “write” on the menu and click. Please give your sermon a title followed by “-scripture references” in the title space. For example, “Sermon Title-Book Chapter:Verse-Verse”. If it is a devotion, special occasion sermon, or illustration, please label it as “Type-Topic/Title-Chapter:Verse-Verse,” for example, “Devotion-Why Did You Lead Us Out of Egypt, to Kill Us?-Book Chapter:Verse-Verse” or “Wedding Charge-2 Greatest Commandments-Book Chapter:Verse-Verse” or “Illustration-Should Christianity Be Private?-Book Chapter:Verse-Verse.”
5. You will need to copy your text from your word processing application and paste it in the large box below the title.
6. Be sure to look over it to ensure paragraph spacing makes sense. In addition, if you have numbered or bulleted points, often those characters will not copy into SermonExchange. You may need to renumber them inside of the text edit window.
7. Place your cursor after your first paragraph, and click on the “more” button you see between the title bar and post bar. This will allow the first paragraph only to display on the “Recently Added Sermons” page and provides the link for the reader to view the rest of your post, appearing as the hyperlink, “Read the rest of this entry>>”. In this edit screen it will show up as “more”; just ignore it there.
8. After pasting and editing, look on the right hand side of the same page and click ALL the categories that apply (except NT or OT); that is how we sort, i.e., Book of Bible, Devotion, Illustration, etc. Those who are in a liturgical tradition are encouraged to check the liturgical categories. If all of your categories are not yet listed, don’t worry about it. Just let us know what we are missing and will add the additional category soon.
9. Click “publish” at the bottom of the text edit space.
10. Return to SermonExchange.net and view to see if your sermon is indeed posted.
11. Let us know if it did not work and we will adress the problem immediately.
A NOTE ABOUT SOURCES: Footnoting is possible inside of SermonExchange, but at this time, the copy feature in MS Word will not copy footnotes from your original document. If you would like to use the footnote feature, after pasting your text into the site, please go to each footnote and paste the source information between double parenthesis “(( ))”, at the place in the text where the footnote should appear (put a space between the last previous word and the start of the footnote). It will number automatically appear on the front page. Example: “((footnotetexthere))” but without the quotation marks.
However, if you choose not to use the footnote option, it is a good idea to add a paragraph at the bottom of your post mentioning sources. How detailed you would like to be in this regard is up to you. SermonExchange.net is not responsible for the content you post.
We thank you very much your contribution(s) and may God bless your ministry.
